I'm learning to code by making Twine games. For my first game, I've decided to adapt the RE7: Beginning Hour teaser into a text-based horror adventure.

This story has multiple endings which are designed to be discovered through repeated playthroughs. As this demo is a work in progress, not all paths are complete at this stage.

This story contains strong language, as well as descriptions of bloody violence, and dead bodies of people and animals.

This game was submitted as part of the Spring Clean Twine Jam.

The inventory / item puzzle system was easy to grok, and your prose and atmosphere here are top notch.

I don't want to get into too many spoilers, but I am curious if there is and underlying simulation element to when the creepy events happen, or if they're just added randomly?

Quite fun! I hope you continue working on it!

Hey Blue Rook, thanks for your kind feedback!

This will ruin the spooks to know; but there's no underlying simulation. There's just a small chance you'll hear a randomly picked creepy sound in a PassageHeader. There are some passages which won't trigger the spooks, which are controlled through passage tags.

Doesn't ruin it for me! I suspected that might be the case but was wondering how you did it. Thanks for sharing the secret-- I'll have to try stuff with tags on my next bout with Twine!

Hello! I did a little LP of your game:

Hey Wormwood, thanks for taking a look at my game! You were totally right about me just copying the teaser demo as practice, so I've updated the game's description accordingly :)

By the way, there is more to discover on the second playthrough, but it's not totally finished yet so it ends kinda abruptly!

Thank you so much for your feedback, it's been really helpful watching someone play.
